Fabulous at any age
Welcome… I’m Kate Granado, creator of Platinum Boomer Journal.
When I woke up this morning, I didn’t notice an expiration date stamped on my forehead…Yet, the preconceived notion is that we, as women, slowly fade away with age. Well, I’m not fading, and I’m not going away. And I think most of you feel the same way.
Looking at what we have accomplished professionally and personally in the last fifty-plus years is astounding. There is no denying it – we are an accomplished professional generation of women. We are the most youthful of past generations. By youthful, I’m not talking filler, Botox, or a facelift (although available); I’m talking about our attitudes toward life, love, family, careers, and personal style. And even more important is our focus on health. We are vibrant, we are active, and we are involved in all aspects of our lives.
We are now the first wave of our generation, born between 1945 and 1964, to be between 57 and 76. And once again, we are leading the way and breaking ground for a new paradigm in how our generation is aging and viewed by our culture. The universal mindset of women 50 plus is still very outdated. The perception barrier is slowly declining, but we must continue to dispel the rocking-chair meme individually, and we are making strides in that direction. We are the “New Women of the 21st Century.” Let’s all stand up and show it off!
I will be writing about taking the utmost loving care of ourselves. I want us to take pride in our many accomplishments, the families we have raised, the demands we have asked of ourselves, and our quest for healthy bodies, minds, and spirits. We look in the mirror every day, and who doesn’t want to say – “you look great today!”
I’ll write about: our friendships, how to nurture them, and how to move on when the circumstances change, how to adjust when we move into new phases and perhaps new environments of our life. I’ll touch on all aspects of who we are and what surrounds us and comforts us. I want to explore all areas of our mind, body, and spirit with you.
We have already defied the odds in so many areas. This next plateau is just one more perception to dispel, one more barrier to knock down, one more ceiling to break through, and one more way for us to join together to say, “Hey, we are not invisible.” We are viable in our wisdom, knowledge, and evolutionary vision.
With all that said, I hope you will join me at Platinum Boomer Journal. And together, as 21st-century women, we will explore the evolution of the Platinum Generation.
