Creativity takes courage……Henri Matisse
I live in a city that supports and encourages varied artists and multiple art galleries. But, outside the exhibits and galleries, there is a thriving Street Art scene that demands attention for the talented group of artiest that contribute to the beauty of the city.
Moving away from the flat surface of a building or wall, street artists around the world are stepping up their repartee with stairs. Transforming these everyday stairs into flights of fantasy through their original works of urban art. These multi-talented artists are not limiting themselves to the painters’ pallet, but are literally branching out with flowering and green plants, mosaics, and natural fibers.
Please, sit back and take in these magnificent works of art. And imagine the level of talent that goes into creating a stairway to heaven!

We have multiple stairways that lead up from the river into our Historical Center. How lucky would we all be if the city hired a group of street mural artist to create for Cuenca, Ecuador, it’s very own Sairway to Heaven.

July 5, 2020 at 7:25 amWow! These are beautiful. Thank you for sharing. Maybe this is one of your Cuenca callings?! Arthur removes the graffiti and you inspire it. I can picture the steps up to the old town by your friend’s house being painted like a flowing river.

July 2, 2020 at 8:37 amHey Kate Thanks for curating this unusual art collection. I can’t imagine how the artists transfer an image from a paper drawing to a flight of steppe. Maybe it’s done with a computer program? It’s the same with three-dimensional are on a one-dimensional surface. xoxo
